The United States has increased its travel advisory for Israel and the West Bank, urging its citizens to “reconsider” traveling to the region due to the threat of terrorist attacks. This Level 3 warning was issued by the Department of State, while the advisory for Gaza remains at “Level 4 – Do not Travel.”
As more airlines suspend operations in Israel, it’s becoming more challenging for foreign tourists and business travelers to depart, and Israeli citizens are facing difficulties returning home, resulting in a travel bottleneck.
The advisory warns that “terrorist groups, lone-actor terrorists, and other violent extremists are still planning potential attacks in Israel and the West Bank and Gaza.” This comes after Israel promised to take strong measures against Hamas attacks.
The warning also mentions that these “terrorists and violent extremists could launch attacks suddenly and without much warning, targeting places where tourists gather, transportation centers, markets, shopping malls, and local government buildings.”
Israel is not the only country at Level 3 on the State Department’s list; other nations in this category include Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Honduras, Saudi Arabia, and Uganda.
